DOM Year in Review: A Look Back at 2021

Emory Department of Medicine continued to navigate difficult times and adjust to a new normal during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic this year. Despite the challenges, our faculty, staff, and trainees excelled and contributed greatly to each of our mission areas.

Most notably, our department played a crucial role in clinical trials for leading COVID-19 vaccines and therapeutics, which has resulted in millions of protected Americans, reduced hospitalizations, and the continued decline of positive COVID-19 cases.

While more challenges lie ahead, we are immensely proud of the entire department’s efforts in 2021 and we are confident in the great work to come in 2022.

Take a look back at some of the many challenges, accomplishments, and honors of the past year, below.
