Match Day 2021: The Department of Medicine is proud to welcome 55 incoming residents

The Department of Medicine is thrilled to introduce the incoming 2021-2022 J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency program interns. Match Day is the culmination of our annual recruitment season and celebrates a defining moment in these young physicians’ careers. This rising class of 55 candidates will begin their residencies this July.

They include:

  • 44 categorical track
  • Two combined internal medicine/psychiatry track
  • Eight primary care track
  • One Cardiology research track

This year, we received more than 5,000 applications for approximately 500 interview spots to recruit a class of highly talented trainees. Our incoming class represents 32 medical schools from across the country, with 5 candidates from Emory University School of Medicine. Eleven incoming interns are from groups traditionally underrepresented in medicine.
