Manpreet Malik, MD, named IM Residency Program Transitional Year Program Director

The Department of Medicine is excited to announce that Manpreet S. Malik, MD, FHM, assistant professor of medicine in the Division of Hospital Medicine, has been selected as the new program director for the J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency Transitional Year Program.

In this role, Malik will lead a team that will guide the administrative, clinical, and educational oversight for the 29 transitional year program residents in a clinical base year in internal medicine in preparation to join their advanced programs.

Malik began his career at Emory in 2019, where he has played an instrumental role in developing a procedure service at Grady Memorial Hospital and is involved in the Division of Hospital Medicine’s faculty development program. He has a passion for teaching medical students and residents, and he was recently recognized at the School of Medicine’s Educator Appreciation Day. Prior to joining the Emory faculty, Malik served as an academic hospitalist at Virginia Commonwealth University, where he developed and directed a bedside procedure and chaired faculty development for the hospital medicine division.

Malik is a leader within the Society of Hospital Medicine and the Society of General Internal Medicine, and he teaches ultrasound guided procedures and point of care ultrasound at regional and national conferences. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters, and two dogs.
