Our next DOM Staff Spotlight is D’Andrea Doyle, MSPH, MS, Communications Specialist for RHYTHM. Learn more about our colleague below!

Tell us about yourself. Where are you from?
I am originally from Los Angeles, California. Although I was born and raised in the sunny City of Angels, I have also called Virginia home during my undergraduate studies as well as Maryland during my graduate studies. Now, I call Atlanta home.

What is your professional background?
My professional background is extremely diverse. I’ve always loved to read, and write, and generally how powerful words can be in influencing thoughts, perspectives, emotions, and decision-making. I’ve consistently maintained the goal of wanting to be in a position to positively impact the community with my professional output.

Following undergrad, I worked in the fashion industry. I transitioned out of fashion with a desire to fulfill a more meaningful and socially impactful career path. It was during my first master’s program that I decided I wanted to use my creativity and love for words to influence health-related decision-making – using engaging communications to translate research and relay important messages often overlooked. Although my background is in fashion, my educational and professional path has led me to a career in health communications and education.

What is your role at Emory?
I am a Communications Specialist for RHYTHM (Research in HIV and Women’s Health and Y This Harmony Matters). RHYTHM is a collaborative and diverse research team of scientists, clinicians, trainees, advocates, and community members dedicated to clinical and translational research, research training, community outreach, and clinical care. In my role, I support our team and its growing number of clinical research and programmatic studies’ communications efforts.

How long have you worked in the Department of Medicine?
This November, I officially celebrated my one-year anniversary with Emory, working in the Department of Medicine’s Division of Infectious Diseases.

What are you currently working on? Any upcoming projects?
I am currently working on recruitment and retention communications assets for RHYTHM’s clinical research and programmatic studies.

What do you like to do for fun outside of work?
Outside of work, I love to cook and eat! I also love to travel and do anything that allows me to be creative – write, paint, décor, etc.
