I work in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Lipids, School of Medicine, Emory University. Professor Roberto Pacifici, MD, is my research mentor.

Briefly describe your research. Why is it important?
In our recent study, we found that the gut microbiome plays a major role in regulating tumor progression by promoting the expansion of relevant immune cells, and gut microbiome depletion due to prolonged use of antibiotics have negative clinical consequence. We also found that the presence of a bad microbiome in our gut is responsible for causing inflammation and ultimately a negative impact on our bones and overall health. Our studies showed that probiotics could play a major role in maintaining a healthy gut microbiome, helping to fight against different pathological conditions, and contributing to better overall health.
