2020-2021 Chief Resident Spotlight: Amalia Aldredge

How did Emory’s residency program prepare you for your future career?
Emory taught me confidence and prepared me for anything that walked through the door.

What’s the biggest takeaway from your year as a chief resident?
Small acts can have huge impacts. It can mean so much to people to take a sliver of the day to intentionally do something to make someone’s day better.

What is one piece of advice you would like to give to incoming Emory residents?
Take time for yourself every day. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and to prioritize work over everything else, but one of the best ways to prevent burnout is to continue to prioritize yourself.

What will you miss the most about Emory’s residency program?
I’ll miss the residents the most! Although I’m not going far, so I look forward to continuing to work with them!

What do you enjoy most about living in Atlanta?
I love the diversity of the city!

What are your career plans for after residency?
I’m starting an infectious diseases fellowship at Emory.
