Researcher Spoltight: Deirdre Dixon

Deirdre Dixon
Clinical Research Coordinator IV – Renal Medicine

What is your professional background? I am a certified CRC IV in the Park Human Physiology Lab. I have been a part of the Emory research community for a number of years. I earned my clinical research coordinator certification in 2018.

Which division do you work in? Who is your mentor? I work in the Division of Renal Medicine. My Principal Investigator is Dr. Jeanie Park.

Briefly describe your research. Why is it important? Dr. Park conducts exciting and important research studies regarding sympathetic nervous system regulation in chronic kidney disease and post-traumatic stress disorder. These populations are at an increased risk for hypertension and heart disease. I am the primary coordinator for her PTSD trials.

What do you like most about Emory? My first introduction to Emory University was as an undergraduate. Now, as part of the research community here, I enjoy how it’s grown and its diversity.

What is your favorite movie or TV show? I enjoy several genres of movies and TV. For lighthearted distraction, there are couple of movies in the ‘MCU’ that are fun to watch.

What do you like to do in your spare time? I enjoy reading, writing, and serving at a local food pantry.

What is a fun fact about you? I love the outdoors.
