Match Day 2022: The Department of Medicine is proud to welcome 56 incoming residents

The Department of Medicine is thrilled to introduce the incoming 2022-2023 J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency program interns! This rising class of 56 candidates will join us to begin their residencies this July.

Match Day is an exciting day in the careers of young physicians, and it represents the culmination of their hard work over four or more years of medical school training. These physicians should also be commended for their dedication and strength while working to complete their medical school education during a global pandemic.

Our incoming class includes:

  • 43 categorical track
  • Two combined internal medicine/psychiatry track
  • Eight primary care track
  • Three cardiology research track

This year, we received more than 4,800 applications for approximately 450 interview spots to recruit a class of highly talented trainees. Our incoming class represents 43 medical schools from 21 states across the country, with one international candidate and eight candidates from Emory University School of Medicine. Eleven incoming interns are from groups traditionally underrepresented in medicine.
