How did Emory’s residency program prepare you for your future career?
The department gave me the space and support to incorporate substance use management and education into the resident curriculum – something I am very passionate about!

What’s the biggest takeaway from your year as a chief resident?
“Human beings are like tea bags. They don’t know their own strength until they get into hot water.”

What is one piece of advice you would like to give to incoming Emory residents?
Life is short, so have the piece of cake, buy the plane ticket, send the text.

What will you miss the most about Emory’s residency program?
My fellow chief text thread.

What do you enjoy most about living in Atlanta?
Its unique ability to maintain a sense of community while being a huge city.

What are your career plans for after residency?
Emory Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship, with plans to start an addiction primary care clinic.
