Monica M. Farley, MD, provides medical guidance to patients and physicians during COVID-19

As the COVID-19 crisis continues, anxious patients are entering Emory Healthcare facilities for medical care. To meet this increase in demand, many Department of Medicine faculty are providing guidance during this challenging time. One of these faculty members is Monica M. Farley, MD, professor of medicine and director of the Division of Infectious Diseases.

Currently serving at the Atlanta VA Medical Center as an infectious disease attending, Farley is on the front lines of the pandemic. She interacts with patients who are both suspected to be infected and positive for the virus, often risking her own health to serve patients and support the hospital care teams.

As an attending, Farley consults with patients and their hospital medicine and ICU physicians, and recommends care plans to medical teams. The direction she provides is crucial, as there is not a single treatment plan for COVID-19 at this time. As hospital treatment approaches constantly change and new regimens are implemented, Farley’s knowledge of infectious diseases and the COVID-19 treatment research is critical to providing the best possible care to patients.

The Department of Medicine applauds Farley for her dedication to her patients and her tireless commitment to guiding medical teams. Her service is just one example of the many selfless health care providers serving our community during this crisis.
