Office of Faculty Development hosts VA Faculty Appreciation Dinner

The Department of Medicine’s Office of Faculty Development recently hosted 90 faculty members and their guests for a VA Faculty Appreciation Dinner at the Miller-Ward Alumni House. David S. Stephens, MD, chair of the Department of Medicine, opened the night by welcoming faculty and acknowledging their hard work in challenging times. He emphasized several accomplishments including continued excellence in teaching of internal medicine residents, the expansion of GI and cardiology procedural areas, and regional and national research awards. He also discussed opportunities to jointly recruit VA faculty members with Emory.

The featured speakers of the night included Ivan Correa, MD, chief of staff at the Atlanta VA Health Care System; Steve Gorbatkin, MD, chief of medicine at the Atlanta VA; and Mike Hart, MD, associate chief of staff of Research and Development at the Atlanta VA. Alia Kamel, senior associate director of the Office of Faculty Development, closed the night by thanking faculty members for their contributions.
