Staff Spotlight: Alice Muson-Wood

Tell us about your role at Emory.
I am the administrative assistant in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine.

How long have you worked at Emory? How long have you worked in the Department of Medicine?
I’ve worked in the Department of Medicine for almost four years.

How has the Department of Medicine helped you in your career development?
The DOM has granted me so many opportunities to further my career. Graduating from the administrative professionals program and serving on the DOM wellness committee are just a couple of examples of how I have been able to establish myself as a member of the DOM team.

If you could switch your job with anyone else within the DOM, whose job would you want? Why?
I would switch with Linda Howell, our division’s senior program coordinator. She has such a rich wealth of knowledge (and a lot of funny stories) from her many, many years in academic medicine.

What do you like most about Emory?
Knowing that I work with some of the most brilliant minds I have ever met.

Any random facts you could share with us?
I have never traveled outside of the US (but hope to someday).

How do you define success?
Someone who has a well-balanced and fulfilling work, creative, and personal life.

Three words to best describe you:
Dependable, creative, and curious.
