Staff Spotlight: Jason Freiji

Tell us about your role at Emory.
I am the financial analyst for the Divisions of General Medicine & Geriatrics and Hospital Medicine. I complete monthly financial reports, advise on short and long-term financial planning, work on annual budgets, and create internal division reports and strategies. Additionally, I work with our researchers and DOM Research Administration Service (RAS) to maintain grant monetary compliance and create budgets for grants. I also work on special projects for the divisions as needed.

How long have you worked at Emory? How long have you worked in the Department of Medicine?
I have been at Emory and the Department of Medicine for one year and eight months.

How has the Department of Medicine helped you in your career development?
I have had tremendous support and mentorship from my leadership teams in both General Medicine & Geriatrics and Hospital Medicine. They give me the ability to manage projects and accounts which has given me the opportunity to expand my skill set. Additionally, there is an environment of teamwork which helps build professional relationships.

What do you like most about Emory?
Emory is a great organization to work for – from its benefit plans to its culture.

Any random facts you could share with us?
I love to cook, and I’m always developing new recipes. I also have a fossil collection that I try to grow every year.

How do you define success?
Success is the ability to continue to develop within your organization by learning and growing professionally. Success is also finding a position and organization that makes you happy every day when coming to work.
