2020 Department of Medicine Research Day award winners

This year’s Department of Medicine Research Day, held virtually October 15, had a record attendance of more than 350 researchers, faculty, staff, and medical students. Presenters from across the department’s 10 divisions shared the exciting basic, translational, and clinical research currently being conducted. The event included two Featured Research talks, oral presentations, poster presentations, a keynote, and a presentation of awards.

The event’s keynote address was titled, “Hemolytic anemia as a mechanism for vasculopathy and pulmonary hypertension in sickle cell disease and other hemolytic conditions,” and was delivered by Mark Gladwin, MD, chair of the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Medicine and director of the Vascular Medicine Institute.

Research Day attendees commented on the great attendance and talks” and “timely topics and outstanding science.”
