Nanette Wenger, MD, receives 2020 Eugene Braunwald Academic Mentorship Award

Nanette Wenger, MD, professor emeritus in the Division of Cardiology and founding consultant of Emory Women’s Heart Center, is the recipient of the American Heart Association’s 2020 Eugene Braunwald Academic Mentorship Award. The award is being presented in recognition of Wenger’s outstanding and long-term contributions as a mentor in developing academic cardiovascular physicians and scientists.

The American Heart Association (AHA) began conferring this award in 1999, in recognition of the many contributions of the luminary cardiologist Eugene Braunwald in teaching and mentoring the next generation of faculty researchers and educators. Recipients have included some of the most prominent researchers and educators in the country, each of whom have had lasting impact on cardiovascular care and research through their extensive mentoring of residents and fellows.

The award comes with several elements of recognition, including announcement at the Presidential Address at AHA’s upcoming Scientific Sessions, to be held as a virtual experience in November.
