Thomas R. Ziegler, MD selected by NIH Center for Scientific Review as member of the Integrative Nutrition and Metabolic Processes Study Section

We are pleased to announce that Thomas R. Ziegler, MD, professor of medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Lipids, has been selected as a member of the Integrative Nutrition and Metabolic Processes (INMP) Study Section by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Center for Scientific Review. INMP members are selected based on their demonstrated competence and achievement in their scientific discipline as evidenced by the quality of research accomplishments, publications in scientific journals, and other significant scientific activities, achievements, and honors.

“Service on a study section also requires mature judgment and objectivity as well as the ability to work effectively in a group, qualities we believe Dr. Ziegler will bring to this important task,” says Noni Byrnes, PhD, director of the NIH Center for Scientific Review.

Study sections review grant applications submitted to the NIH, make recommendations on these applications to the appropriate NIH national advisory council or board, and survey the status of research in their fields of science.

“It is a privilege to be invited to participate as a charter member of the INMP Study Section,” says Ziegler. “I look forward to adding new perspective to the panel, particularly with regard to R01/R21/R03 applications that include clinical/translational research in nutrition and metabolism.”

Please join us in congratulating Ziegler on this achievement!
