The Department of Medicine is proud to announce that Craig Cook, MD, second-year internal medicine resident, has been elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (ΑΩΑ), a professional organization that recognizes and advocates for excellence in scholarship and the highest ideals in the profession of medicine. Cook was selected based on his outstanding scholastic achievement as well as his integrity, compassion, and capacity for leadership in dealing with colleagues, patients, and medical students. His induction took place during the Annual ΑΩΑ Banquet and Fincher Lecture on April 22.

“It is an incredible honor that I never saw coming,” Cook says. “I’m excited to be part of such a great organization, but I am even more honored that I was able to make an impact on my patients and medical students’ lives at Emory.”

Cook credits receiving the recognition to his mentors, including David Guidot, MD, Bashar Staitieh, MD, Jordan Kempker, MD, Tracey Henry, MD, Bhavin Adhyaru, MD, Karen Law, MD, and more. “They all have had a huge impact on me, whether providing me opportunities for growth or inspiring me as a clinician,” Cook says.

After completing his residency, Cook hopes to pursue a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care. Receiving this recognition from ΑΩΑ further demonstrates his dedication to becoming an excellent clinician, teacher, and researcher.
