Highlighted Researcher: Arshed Quyyumi

In what division do you work, and who is your mentor? 
I work in the Division of Cardiology for the Department of Medicine. I also direct the Emory Clinical Cardiovascular Research Institute. No mentors. I have, however, mentored 50 trainees in the last five years.

Briefly describe your research. Why is it important? 
Clinical research areas of interest in Cardiovascular diseases: Translational Vascular Biology

  1. Investigation of regenerative capacity and stem cells as markers and therapeutics in advanced heart disease
  2. Investigation of genomic, metabolomics and proteomic biomarkers to identify patients with cardiovascular diseases who are at high risk for adverse outcomes.
  3. Cardiovascular health disparities

What do you like most about Emory? 
I enjoy the highly collaborative environment.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I read and spend a majority of my spare time writing grant applications.
