Governor Nathan Deal named November “Pulmonary Hypertension (PH) Awareness Month” in Georgia. Micah Fisher, MD (program director for the Emory Pulmonary Hypertension Program) recently accompanied Emory patient and leader of the Savannah Pulmonary Hypertension Support Group Linda Santos and Kim Thorpe, nurse and coordinator for Emory’s Pulmonary Hypertension Program, to the Georgia State Capitol to commemorate the proclamation. Linda petitioned the local and state government to try to raise awareness of pulmonary hypertension.

Emory’s Pulmonary Hypertension Program is led by program director Micah Fisher, MD. Dr. Fisher has more than 10 years of experience treating patients with pulmonary hypertension and other pulmonary vascular diseases. The mission of the Emory Pulmonary Hypertension Program is to provide comprehensive care to patients with known or suspected PH, utilizing accurate diagnostics, education, research, and the complete spectrum of available therapies. This therapeutic spectrum includes oral therapies, parenteral and inhaled prostanoid therapy, and lung transplantation (when appropriate).
